A little taste of what I do on San Nicolas Island

N.O.L.O.

It means "No On-board Live Operator" And it concerns who is ACTUALLY flyin' these darn things.... NO ONE . . . . . The BIGGEST toy RC airplanes men could play with! The fly-boy sits in his easy chair 60 miles away... and can tell his wife he got shot down........... but will be home for dinner!

(The F4 is currently in use as a target. The F86 saw its last mission approximately 3 years ago.)

I don't fly'em... but I maintain the ancient equipment that does.

And who would SHOOT at these full size targets?

So this is where I'm doin' my time. "The Rock"... San Nicolas Island. About 75 miles west of Los Angeles, in the deep blue Pacific. This is where we safely launch and recover the NOLO's ..... cuz last thing ya want flying into LAX is a crippled, unmanned WAR BIRD!
